October 2021 (Volume 16, Issue 10)

Hi Paddocks Press fan,

Training and Resources for Home Owners' Associations

Living in a Home Owners' Association is not always straightforward and easy, and if you are serving as a director or trustee, it can complicate matters even more. There are even many managing agents who find themselves struggling to successfully manage these types of schemes.

Whether you simply own or reside within an HOA, serve on the board or are involved as an estate manager or managing agent, having the right resources on hand can make the difference between the community just surviving (sometimes barely) and thriving.

To meet these needs, Graham has over the years developed a few tools to benefit those who are involved with HOAs, which are designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to successfully steer your community in the right direction. Here are a few of the options that we have which will benefit you and your HOA:

Home Owners' Association Survival Manual
The Home Owners' Association Survival Manual has been a go-to guide for anyone involved in HOAs for almost a decade, containing information on member and executive meetings, administration, finances and more. We have this available in both paperback and eBook format.

Dispute Resolution in Community Schemes Course Notes eBook
This eBook contains the course notes for our UCT Dispute Resolution in Community Schemes online short course. These notes cover both internal dispute mechanisms and the role of the CSOS should internal remedies fail. Please note that we do not have this available as a paperback.

UCT Scheme Manager - Home Owners' Association online short course
This online short course is ideal for those who would like to earn a short course certificate from the University of Cape Town in Home Owners' Association scheme management. This course is for managing agents, estate managers and even those who simply own a stand in an HOA. Course dates and more information are included below under "UCT Courses".
